On July 9, Canon launched the newest model in their imagePROGRAF PRO series, which offers a similar workflow and print quality to the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 is a more compact A3+ format with a slightly different ink set, but still uses LUCIA PRO pigment inks. New picture and matte black inks offer deeper and more vivid blacks on glossy and fine art paper, and photo and matte black inks with separate nozzles are included with the PRO-300. While Canon's L-COA PRO processor can compute the best ink droplet arrangement to provide optimal output quality and high printing speeds, the printer automatically chooses the correct ink depending on the paper loaded, saving time and lowering ink consumption. All print modes, including fine art paper, offer borderless printing at the highest quality, which is an advance over the PIXMA PRO-10S. Custom paper sizes up to 990.60 mm can be selected for printing panoramic pictures. Profile support is offered for Canon and third-party papers.

The 3-inch color LCD shows operational information, menu options, and messages, as well as ink levels for each tank. Because it is not touch-sensitive, users must use the arrows on the arrow pad to scroll between the items. The Home button restores the normal status display, whereas the Back button returns you to the previous screen. When the printer is connected to a computer, functionalities in the printer driver enable further control. The imagePROGRAF PRO-300 comes with Canon's Professional Print & Layout software. It can be used as a standalone program or as a plug-in for Canon's Digital Photo Professional image software, as well as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Color management, profiling selection, and layout settings such as split gallery wrap printing and panoramic printing are all covered in this program. Photographers can use the soft proofing and hard proofing functions in this program to ensure accurate color matching from screen to print. To accommodate numerous workflows, the imagePROGRAF PRO-300 can connect to PC or Mac operating systems by Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB. It can also integrate with Canon's EOS camera technology, with features like DPRAW Print and HDR Print, which read RAW image data from EOS cameras and precisely render crisp restore highlights from single exposures and sections in a picture.
